Betterdays Cancer Care Create Awareness Inspire Change

Betterdays works to improve the health and social care of Black women by promoting advocacy and health policies, developing culturally appropriate health resources, information and tools, providing health and wellness education, and translating relevant research and policies about the health status of Black women into reports.

• We provide breast cancer patients with a general overview of the breast cancer experience from diagnosis to survivorship.

• We provide updates of breast cancer information to encourage survivors to take responsibility for their own health so that they can reclaim a sense of control in their lives.

• We offer a range of culturally appropriate services such as Patient Navigation, home support, support groups, a wig and prosthesis service and peer counseling sessions.

• We aim to provide a voice to young African Caribbean women diagnosed with breast cancer; especially those diagnosed with triple negative and ER/PR negative breast cancers.

• We also are committed to increasing local, national and international attention on the devastating impact of breast cancer on the African-Caribbean community so that we can work with the relevant bodies to develop solutions that will alleviate the impact of breast cancer on our community.

• We also have a dedicated Breast Health Awareness programme which raises awareness in the African Caribbean community of how breast cancer affects black women, risk factors, signs and symptoms and breast cancer screening. This programme also encourages a healthy lifestyle in order to facilitate breast cancer prevention. Betterdays Cancer care works collaboratively with organisations to help establish a national agenda focused on eliminating health inequalities impacting Black women and their families. To accomplish our goal of building awareness among the African Caribbean community and enhancing the capacity of Black women to advocate for and secure the health care they need, we offer the following:

• Public Education Campaigns
• Issue Briefings and Forums
• Health Education Programs
• Interactive Health Assessment Tools
• Capacity Building, Training and personal Assistance
• Self-Help Sister act
